Benefit Game To Ease Physio's Anguish
Teversal are to stage a benefit game for club physio George Allsop's wife Theresa who is suffering from an incurable cancer.
A Mel Sterland All Stars side will face a Teversal Old Boys XI at Carnarvon Street next Sunday (24th), kick-off 2pm.
The Sterland side, which will be managed by Belper Town boss Ernie Moss, will include former Sheffield Wednesday keeper Kevin Pressman.
Another former Owls star involved will be David Hirst, ex-Mansfield Chesterfield and Wednesday star Greg Fee, ex-Charlton and Leeds Jon Newsome as well as a host of other stars of yesteryear.
Former England international Sterland will be at the game, but is not expected to play.
Coventry's 1987 FA Cup winning goalkeeper Steve Ogrizovic, who is originally from the area, has donated a shirt, gloves and a football which will be auctioned.
Theresa, 49, and George, 50, have three children aged from 22 to 15.
"We want to rally round and do our bit for the family," said Teversal boss John Courtie.
"It will be up to the family to best decide how the money we raise is best used."
