Buckley Leaves Old Boys

Neil Buckley has resigned as manager of Barton Town Old Boys.

Work commitments mean he would not be able to fully commit himself to the Division One club and so he has left with immediate effect.

A club spokesperson said: "This is a blow but we would like to thank Neil for his fantastic service to the club over the last five years, both as a player and manager.

"He won the Central Midlands League, then got us promotion to the NCEL a year later."

The club have gone the 'Liverpool' way of doing things and Carl Stead has stepped into the manager's shoes from the Boot Room to work alongside Ian Durnian who will remain the assistant manager.

The club said: "Carl has won the FA Vase twice and has both the respect and experience needed to manage at this level and beyond."

In staying with the Boot Room ethic, Craig Burdick has been appointed Player-Coach.

He has been a lifelong supporter of the club and is looking forward to the challenge of the new season.

The club are also pleased to announce that all players from the previous season have been retained together with some new additions, most notably the signing of UniBond star Carl Giblin, formerly of Bridlington Town and ex-Scunthorpe United player, Craig Turner.
